Chronic Pain: Orientation
During this block you will have broad exposure to acute pain management through the inpatient pain service (which will also expose you to patients with chronic pain conditions) and chronic pain management on an outpatient basis, through the Blaustein Pain Treatment Center in JHOC, 3rd floor. Each month three or more residents will spend focused time expanding their knowledge of pain medicine. At some point in your residency, each resident will spend time both on the Acute Pain Service and in the Chronic Pain Clinic. Resident responsibilities on both services will require participation Monday through Friday. During this block you will have overnight on-call duties in the General OR’s and in OB, however, no late call.
