Medicine and Graduate School Graduates

May brings with it a much anticipated rite of passage, the annual Class Graduation for Medicine and Graduate schools. This year, teaching medical students and mentoring graduate students in Anesthesiology laboratories yielded some remarkable fruit for our Department Faculty and Residents and Johns Hopkins Medicine, notably:
- Dr. Raj Raja had the honor of placing the hood on his daughter, Pushpa V. Raja’s shoulders when she received her Hopkins diploma as a Doctor of Medicine.
- Dr. Peter Pronovost received the Professor’s Award for teaching in both the Basic and Clinical Sciences, taking his groundbreaking curriculum of Patient Safety still deeper into the first two years of the Medical School curriculum.
- Dr. Michelle Petrovic gathered with other faculty on the stage for her work with graduates interested in the specialty of Anesthesiology
- Dr. Theresa Hartsell was center stage with colleague Dr. Nicole Shilkofski as a leader in the Colleges program in the School of Medicine.

The Departmental Director for the Medical Student Program is Dr. Brad Winters , who leads ACCM residents in working closely with medical students to help them gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the specialty of anesthesiology and critical care medicine. Thanks to their tireless efforts, this year, four Hopkins graduates will enter the field of anesthesiology.
