ATP Center Research Program
Our research program involves basic research, translational research and clinical research in several areas. In addition, epidemiologic research into the causes of transfusion as well as evidence-based research is done. The research mission of the Center is as follows:
- to design and implement studies on non-blood-based blood substitutes and strategies to maintain tissue oxygenation
- to develop new approaches for achieving hemostasis in bleeding disorders
- to study the mechanisms of hematologic disorders, now currently treated by transfusions, so that one may develop therapeutic approaches that prevent transfusion
- to conduct evidence-based and outcomes research on alternatives to blood transfusion therapy
- to formulate innovative clinical trials that lead to the prevention of blood transfusions
