  • Appropriate allocation and management of nursing resources

  • Development and maintenance of a governance structure with operating procedures and staffing to meet the needs of the organization and the Department of Nursing

  • Collaboration with the Directors of Nursing to develop, implement, and evaluate the Department of Nursing's strategic and operational plans

  • Collaboration with the Directors of Nursing to establish standards of nursing care and practice and to assure that these standards guide the provision of nursing care

  • Provision of central nursing support for functional units in areas of organizational development, management systems, human resource management, staff development, education, and research

  • Collaboration with the Dean of The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing to provide an organizational structure which advances professional nursing practice, education, and research

  • Compliance with regulatory requirements of Federal, State, and accrediting entities; maintenance of current accreditations and licenses, e.g. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) accreditation, State of Maryland licensure

Nursing Administration:
Supports nursing leadership in the delivery of optimal patient care by providing leadership, coordination, and consultation for the development and evaluation of programs, standards, and clinical practice.
