Guidelines

1.

Your primary commitment should always be to the University and its mission. As such, there should be nothing in your consulting agreement that could in any way inhibit your ability to conduct research and other academic activities at, through, or on behalf of JHU.
2.

You should be engaged to provide expert advice only. You should not be asked to participate in, direct or conduct research, including clinical trials, for or on behalf of the company. You should also not participate in any patient care activity or review of individual patient information.

3.Your consulting work must in no way inhibit or prohibit publications from your work at JHU.
4.You cannot disclose or provide the company with early or exclusive access to any JHU research. You cannot disclose any invention, improvement, or other information that is proprietary to JHU.
5.Nothing in your consulting agreement should give the company any rights to publications, inventions, discoveries, or other intellectual property, which is developed as a result of a program of research financed in whole or in part by funds provided by, or under the control of, JHU.
6.The company cannot use the names or logos of JHU in any of their documents or marketing materials, whether in print, electronic, or any other media.
7.

The company may not quote you in any of its materials, except for citation of published scientific articles. If the company cites you in any context, the following disclaimer must be presented:

“Participation by Dr. [Name] [in the development of this product or as a consultant] does not constitute an endorsement by the Johns Hopkins University or the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.”

8.Disclose your relationship with the company in all publications or public presentations of research related to, or sponsored by, the company.
