What is the Annual Outside Interests Statement and who needs to complete it?

As of July 1, 2009, all full-time and salaried part-time faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine are required to complete an electronic Annual Outside Interests Statement during each academic year.

The Annual Outside Interests Statement used to be integrated into the faculty appointment letter but must now be submitted electronically via eOPC, the Office of Policy Coordination’s electronic disclosure system.

The purpose of the statement is to confirm that the Office of Policy Coordination has a complete, accurate, and up-to-date account of your reportable private activities with, and/or financial or fiduciary interests in, outside entities.

Guidelines for reporting in eOPC throughout the year

To comply with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine policies on Conflict of Interest and Commitment, full-time and salaried part-time faculty must report outside activities and financial and fiduciary interests in outside organizations on a continuing basis.

All reportable activities and interests must be reported to the institution via eOPC, the JHU School of Medicine’s electronic disclosure system. This is the exclusive mechanism for making reports under the School’s policies on conflict of interest and commitment.

  • Faculty must report any new interests as they arise; faculty must report new activities prior or at the time of engagement.
