Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Additional Information

In February 1998, Johns Hopkins Hospital proudly opened its Acute Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, located on the third floor of the Halsted Building. In this setting of warmth and accessibility, the professionals of the rehabilitation team care for people who have experienced many different injuries or disease processes, all with the goal of increasing independence and function.

Our rehabilitation services involve both one-to-one meetings and sessions with a team of experts that may include physical, occupational, respiratory and recreation therapists; speech language pathologists; psychologists; rehabilitation nurses; social workers; dietitians and physicians who work with patients to develop the skills needed to live outside the hospital.

This process of comprehensive rehabilitation care, along with peer counseling and support systems, evening and weekend programs, and education and training for family members, together with our ability to manage complex medical care issues, adds up to the excellent care that is the hallmark of The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
