The Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit embodies this Hopkins tradition of excellence.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every individual, regardless of disability, has the potential to achieve a dignified, productive and personally meaningful life. We respect the diversity of our patients and their families, recognizing that each patient deserves a unique treatment program.
Our Goal
We intend to improve physical, social and cognitive function through treatment and training, so that patients may acquire, practice and maintain the skills necessary to live independently in the community.
Our Commitment to Improving Patients' Quality of Life
The Hopkins rehabilitation team is actively involved in developing innovative therapies and treatments to help patients now and in the future. We seek to participate in and shape local, regional and national policies relating to health care and disability. We are committed to providing our patients with the most up-to-date care and information.
Our Specialists
Patients receive care from an interdisciplinary team of experts including physiatrists, rehabilitation nurses, psychologists, respiratory care practitioners, speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, recreation therapists, registered dietitians and social workers.
Our Continuum of Care
To promote continuity and quality of care, the Hopkins rehabilitation team strives to bridge critical/acute care and outpatient services. We recognize that including rehabilitation interventions early in the course of an injury or illness has a strong positive effect on the patient's eventual outcome.
