Research Interests:
I am interested in furthering the understanding of the benefits of regular physical activity. I find older women to be a particularly interesting group on which to focus this interest, since they have specific needs which have not been adequately addressed in most exercise research. In addition to the physical benefits of exercise, I am interested in investigating the effects of exercise on perception of quality of life and in identifying motivational factors involved with persistence to exercise in older populations.

Gait is a fundamental indicator of many things, from psychological attitude and degree of fitness to specific diseases and impairments. As we investigate gait and the biomechanics of movement, the broad interests and backgrounds of this workgroup inform our individual and group studies and provide a rich base from which to work.
