Dr. Friedman was born and raised in the Baltimore area. He trained at University of Chicago Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, finishing his residency in 2003. During his residency he had a strong interest in both Sports and Spine. He went on to complete a Fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Michigan, Department of Anesthesia. After his fellowship, he took a position with a large orthopedic sport medicine and spine practice in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan. He received an award in 2006 from the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of America’s top physicians in the field of Interventional Pain Management. He moved back to Maryland in the Spring of 2007, to develop an interventional pain management program for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Friedman evaluates and treats patients with acute and chronic pain issues related to joint, musculoskeletal, sports and spinal diseases and/or injuries. While he specializes in interventional techniques, he also performs evaluates and treats patients with non-interventional conservative modalities and techniques. His goal in treating both acute and chronic pain is to identify and correct the underlying cause of the problem and to minimize factors which worsen disease conditions and result in pain. Areas of Interest: Back Pain, Neck Pain, Sports Injuries, Cervical Strain, Degenerative Disc Disease, Facet Arthritis, Herniated Disc /Protrusions, Lumbar Strain, , Nerve Compression, Post-Thoracotomy Pain, Radiculopathy (Neck & Back),Sciatica, Spinal Stenosis, Thoracic Pain, Cancer Pain, Cervicogenic Headaches, Occipital Neuralgia, Complex Region Pain Syndrome, Compression Fractures, Joint (Pain, Sprains and Strains), Neuralgia/Neuropathy, Preventive Pain Medicine, Scoliosis, Spasticity, Whiplash, Accident & Worker Related Injuries.
