Albert Recio, M.D., R.P.T., P.T.R.P.

Instructor, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

Dr. Recio obtained his medical degree from University of Perpetual Health System in  the Philippines and graduated with honors.  He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School/Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He completed his clinical fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the University of Washington.

Dr. Recio is the recipient of a 3 year academic scholarship grant through the Josefina Laperal Tamayo Perpetual Help Medical Foundation. Prior to entering medical school he practiced as a licensed Physical Therapist in Illinois. His research interests include Activity Based Restoration Therapies, Functional Electrical Stimulation and the use of  End Tidal CO2 Monitoring for Adjustment of Ventilatory Support after Diaphragmatic Paralysis due to Spinal Cord Injury. He co-wrote a research on Post-Stroke Depression: Medication and Rehabilitation, which won the best paper at the 3rd World Congress of the International Society of Rehabilitation Medicine.  Dr. Recio’s clinical practice includes the rehabilitation of adults with spinal cord injuries.
