Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of R. Samuel Mayer, M.D. to the position of Vice-Chair for Education in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Mayer completed his residency at the Rush-Marianjoy-Oak Forest Residency Program in PM&R, and joined the Johns Hopkins Department of PM&R in 2001. Dr. Mayer is currently an Assistant Professor, Director of the Residency Program, and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, all in the Department of PM&R. In addition, he serves as Medical Director of the Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and as Physician Advisor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Mayer is an outstanding physiatrist who has a national reputation for excellence in medical education. He has made enormous contributions to Johns Hopkins PM&R. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Mayer on this recent appointment. It is extraordinarily well deserved.
