Dr. Sébastien Baechler is a post-doctoral fellow in the Radionuclide Therapy and Dosimetry Research Lab, Division of Nuclear Medicine in the Russell H. Morgan Department of Radiology and Radiological Science at The Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. He joined the group in March ’07 on a one-year sabbatical from the University Institute of radiation physics in Lausanne (Switzerland) where he works as a health physicist. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) working in the field of neutron-based inspection techniques.
RESEARCH
Dr. Baechler’s research focuses on developing methods for clinical dosimetry that includes radiobiological modeling in order to better understand relationships between dose and normal organ toxicity or tumor response. Such methods are based on the linear-quadratic model that incorporates radiosensitivity of the tissue, effects of dose rates, cell repair and cell repopulation. He is also working on the 3D-ID methodology to be applied for the dosimetry of Zevalin and Bexxar therapy.
