Medical Psychology - Alzheimer's Research

Predictors of Severity in Alzheimer's Disease

Principal Investigator: Jason Brandt, Ph.D.

This study seeks to determine variables that predict decline in patients with dementia by conducting detailed clinical examinations of patients with Alzheimer's Disease and those with dementia with Lewy bodies. Patients are examined every six months. Time to reach certain critical clinical endpoints (e.g., requiring nursing-home level of care, death) is examined as a function of demographic and clinical characteristics (e.g., neurologic and psychiatric exam findings, neurocognitive test performance) at study entry, as well as the emergence of new signs and symptoms during follow-up.

For more information regarding this study, please contact Kevin Manning at 410-955-1647.
