GERIATRIC PSYCHIATRY CLINIC
at Johns Hopkins Bayview
The Geriatric Psychiatry Program offers outpatient services to individuals 60 and over who suffer from psychiatric disorders. Treatment is provided by a professional staff of psychiatrists, clinical nurse specialists, social workers, clinical nurse, licensed mental health therapists, and licensed clinical counselors.
Who Can Benefit from Our Services?
The program is geared to treating individuals over the age of 60 who are experiencing memory loss, depression, anxiety, and/or behavioral problems. The program also serves patients with brain injury who are over 18 years of age. In addition to the services provided to patients, the program offers education and support services to family members and caregivers.
Program Offerings
Patients are first screened by our treatment team to determine the appropriateness of outpatient therapy. An evaluation of the individual's psychiatric, social and medical status is completed and a diagnostic formulation is made. The treatment plan focuses on successful management of symptoms on an outpatient basis with medications and psychotherapy. Continuing care includes regular psychiatric follow-ups, the frequency of which depends on the individual needs of the patient and family.
Appointments
The Geriatric Psychiatry Program is open Monday through Friday by appointment only. Medicare, Medicaid and some private insurance plans are accepted.
