Caregiver Burden in Young-Onset Dementias
Principal Investigator:
Chiadi U. Onyike, M.D., M.H.S.
We are comparing measures of caregiver burden among those caring for young-onset dementias compared to those caring for individuals who had an onset of dementia at 65 years of age or earlier. This study is aimed at developing programs to increase resources for this particular group of patients and their families. All individuals who had onset of dementia earlier than 65 years of age and who receive their care from the clinic are eligible for the study.

Neuropsychiatric Symptoms Preceding the
Development of Young-Onset Dementias
Principal Investigator: Brian S. Appleby, M.D.
The prevalence and type of neuropsychiatric symptoms that precede the diagnosis of dementia in patients younger than 65 years of age will be explored in this study. The aims of this study are to identify early signs and symptoms of young-onset dementias to facilitate earlier treatment and to understand psychiatric symptoms in relation to dementia. All individuals who had an onset of dementia earlier than 65 years of age and who receive their care from the clinic are eligible for the study.
