Professional Interests

My research interests are in four broad domains: 1) the intergenerational transmission of psychiatric disorder and the high-risk offspring paradigm, 2) the etiology of psychiatric disorders among children and adolescents, 3) developmental psychopathology and 4) community-based interventions to prevent or ameliorate psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents. More specifically, I am interested in the continuity and discontinuity of symptoms and disorders over childhood and adolescence and into adulthood, developmental periods of vulnerability or invulnerability, resilience despite disruptive family environments and the effect of interventions on developmental trajectories. Adolescent suicidal behaviors have been a major research focus and interest in my career to date.
