The Anxiety Disorders Clinic at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is an outpatient assessment and treatment clinic for persons with all types of anxiety disorders. We provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, second opinions, consultations, as well as ongoing treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy and medications.

The Clinic treats patients with:
- Panic Disorder (with or without Agoraphobia)
- Social Phobia (also known as Social Anxiety Disorder)
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Specific Phobias

CLINIC OPERATIONS AND PROCEDURES
What to expect
Before coming to the clinic, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire detailing your symptoms and medical and psychiatric history. You will be asked to bring this information to the clinic on the day of your visit. Your first visit will take place on a Tuesday afternoon. We will ask you to check in at 1:00 PM, when you will be registered at the clinic. At 2:00 PM, you will meet with a psychiatry resident physician who will review your history and obtain more details about your anxiety. This meeting usually takes between 1 to 1 ½ hours. Upon completion of this meeting, one of the senior faculty members, who is an anxiety disorders specialist, will also meet with you. This meeting usually takes 30 minutes to an hour. At this time, the faculty member and resident physician will provide you with their opinion regarding the diagnosis of your illness, as well as recommendations for treatment. Depending upon your preferences, you can obtain treatment at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, we can provide you with names of qualified caregivers in your geographic area, or we can send you and your physician a detailed summary of our opinions and recommendations. Regardless of you preferences for subsequent care, we will write a comprehensive patient evaluation report that summarizes your history, our impressions, and our recommendations. This can be sent to the caregivers of your choice, and will be kept on file at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, should you decide to obtain treatment here.
Costs
The cost of the initial comprehensive evaluation is $425. If you are unable to pay this amount, for insurance or other financial reasons, you may qualify for the “Training and Teaching Program” which has a reduced rate of $100. If you believe that you qualify for the Training and Teaching Program, please notify Debra Martin (410-614-1335), who will provide you with details regarding the program.
The cost of subsequent visits will depend upon the nature of the treatment (medication management versus cognitive behavioral therapy) the duration of the visit, and which care provider you see at Hopkins (psychiatry resident, faculty clinical psychologist or faculty psychiatrist).
