JOHNS HOPKINS PHYSICIANS TO PRESENT A CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION COURSE AT AT ST. MATTHEW'S UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

July 16, 2009-Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI) and St. Matthew’s University (SMU), Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, will present a wide-ranging series of continuing medical education (CME) lectures focusing on new advances in treatment of arthritis and brain tumors, and other topics for local health care professionals and medical students on July 17, 2009. 

“We are very pleased to be able to offer our CME series to physicians and medical students in the Cayman Islands,” says Eli A. Timoll, M.D., medical director for patient services and ombudsman, Johns Hopkins Medicine International. “This course is part of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s mission to share knowledge and best practices with health care providers around the world.”

More than 100 medical students, private practice and hospital physicians are expected to attend the one-day CME course.

Uzma Haque, M.D., an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Michael Lim, M.D., director of the spine radiosurgery program at Hopkins and an assistant professor of neurosurgery and oncology, and Martin Makary, M.D., M.P.H., chair of gastrointestinal surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, will present the lectures. Topics will include “Rheumatoid Arthritis: Our Approach in 2009,” “Image Guidance and Functional Mapping for the Removal of Brain Tumors,” and “The New Face of Surgery: The Laparoscopic Revolution.”
