THE JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL NAMED TO INTERNATIONAL LIST OF MOST ETHICAL ORGANIZATIONS
May 28, 2009- The Ethisphere Institute, a New York-based think-tank established to advance best practices in business ethics and corporate social responsibility, has named The Johns Hopkins Hospital to its 2009 list of the business world’s most ethical companies and institutions.
The Johns Hopkins Hospital was one of 99 organizations selected from among hundreds of nominees in more than 100 countries and 35 industries. Criteria for selection include corporate citizenship and responsibility, corporate governance, innovation that contributes to public well-being, industry leadership, executive leadership, legal and regulatory performance, and solid ethics compliance programs. Further details of the methodology and selection process for the awards can be found at http://ethisphere.com/wme2009/.
“All of us at The Johns Hopkins Hospital are honored,” says Ronald R. Peterson, president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. “The Hospital was established more than a century ago by a visionary man who clearly understood that not only must the finest health care be delivered within its walls, but also that this care must be delivered within a highly principled and ethical environment.”
Others on this year’s list include Patagonia, Toyota Motors, Dell, General Electric, General Mills, Cleveland Clinic, Marriott International, Safeway, Target, Time Warner, IKEA, Starbucks, and UPS.
Ethisphere Magazine, which publishes the World’s Most Ethical Companies Ranking™, is the quarterly publication of the Ethispher Institute.
