AMA FOUNDATION HONORS JOHNS HOPKINS PHYSICIAN AS AN OUTSTANDING LEADER IN MEDICINE

Edbert Hsu, M.D., M.P.H., an emergency medicine physician at The Johns Hopkins University School Edbert Hsuof Medicine, has received the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation’s 2008 Leadership Award. This award provides medical students, residents/fellows, early career physicians and established physicians from around the country with special training to develop their skills as future leaders in organized medicine and community affairs.

Hsu, an expert in disaster medicine, has helped develop emergency medicine and disaster preparedness programs throughout the world and has led statewide efforts to enhance hospital pharmaceutical preparedness for public health emergencies. Hsu is the director of training and serves on the leadership group of Johns Hopkins University’s Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response. Currently he is a co-investigator with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Center for the Study of Preparedness and Catastrophic Event Response, an associate editor for the AMA Journal of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness, and works closely with the National Disaster Life Support Educational Consortium.
