U.S. LABOR SECRETARY ELAINE CHAO TO SPEAK AT JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL
WHAT: U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao will hold a press briefing on Jan. 6 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital to provide a progress update and discuss the success of the hospital’s Project REACH program. Secretary Chao will also highlight the program’s importance and positive impact on the health care industry and how this initiative feeds into the larger economy and workforce development.
The program, which has provided educational opportunities for hospital employees to not only enhance their skills but also obtain training for the health care jobs of the future, is being extended for another year. Project REACH was made possible by a $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to the Johns Hopkins Health System in March 2004. For further information, see

Peterson, president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, Edward Miller, M.D., dean/CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, Pamela Paulk, vice president of human resources for The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, and employees who took part in Project REACH.
