BEST DRESSED SALE SET FOR SEPTEMBER 29 - OCTOBER 2

Some Baltimore traditions just keep getting bigger and better.  That's certainly the case with this year's Johns Hopkins Best Dressed Sale and Boutique 2005.  Exclusive designer dresses and shoes, chic contemporary fashions, classic accessories and enduring vintage clothing will be on the racks, waiting for a favored place in the closets of bargain-conscious – but demanding - shoppers.

The sale begins on Thursday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and continues Friday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Fashion show 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., $25); Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 2, 11 a.m. to 4p.m.

"No one can resist the idea of a bargain," says Dottie Truitt, co-chair of this year's event, which is sponsored by The Women's Board of The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  There are shoes and handbags, skirts, suits, tuxedoes, furs - even wedding gowns.  Clothes for children, men, evening, sport and resort.  Some are even brand new.  "Believe it or not," says Truitt, "some people never once wear what they buy."

Thousands of shoppers turn out each year for this free fund-raising event, now in its 38th year, so come early for the best selection.  Proceeds from this year's event, which last year raised $150,000, will benefit the planned new Children's Hospital.  For serious shoppers, an after-hours fashion show and light bar on the Friday of the sale offers a less chaotic shopping experience.
