DANIEL B. SMITH NAMED PRESIDENT OF JOHNS HOPKINS HOME CARE GROUP
Daniel B. Smith has been appointed president of the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group (JHHCG) after serving as the acting head of the organization for the past year.
Smith, who joined Hopkins 22 years ago, was part of the 1983 team that assessed the viability of acquiring what was then Baltimore City Hospitals, now Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC). He remained at JHBMC for 12 years, ultimately becoming the senior director of finance.
In 1995, Smith joined the Johns Hopkins Health System as the senior director of finance for budget development and financial analysis. During this time, he was instrumental in overseeing The Johns Hopkins Hospital budget process, financial analysis of Johns Hopkins Medicine business plans and implementation of a major technology-based accounting system. In addition to those duties, he has served as chief financial officer for JHHCG.
“Under Dan’s leadership this past year, significant enhancements in quality and safety have been implemented at Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, and we are confident these positive steps will continue,” says Ronald R. Peterson, president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.
JHHCG, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, is designed to maintain continuous high-quality care to patients beyond the walls of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s hospitals by offering a full range of services and products for adults and children in Central Maryland. Visits by nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, home health aides, social workers, respiratory therapists and home care specialists provide a complete line of respiratory and durable medical equipment and supplies.
