The Nephrology Program provides all aspects of clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with kidney and hypertension-related disorders.  Referred patients can be seen in the Outpatient Clinic initially or, of appropriate, can be accepted directly for inpatient admission to The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Renal failure treatment options provided include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and renal transplantation.  Treatment of patients with severely compromised renal function, though not yet dialysis-dependent, can be coordinated and managed through the Outpatient Nephrology Clinic, using available consultations with experts in nutrition, metabolic bone disease, urology and vascular/renal transplantation.  Consultation for congenital renal disorders and genetic counseling is also available on an outpatient basis.
