Diane R. Blake, MD

Co-Investigator

Diane Blake, MD is an Associate Professor in the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Department of Pediatrics of the University of Massachusetts Medical School.  Dr. Blake has more than 10 years experience conducting research on strategies to improve chlamydia screening.  Her reserach has focused primarily, but not exclusively, on adolescent and young adult populations and has included three cost-effectiveness analyses of chlamydia screening strategies in a variety of settings.  Dr. Blake has authored 14 peer-reviewed research and 17 research abstracts and presentations.  She was the PI on a K23 Career Development Award from NIAID, "Noninvasive Chlamydial Screening for Adolescents."  As part of this grant, Dr. Blake conducted a cost-effectiveness analysis on chlamydial screening of males entering detention facilities and another comparing the cost-effectiveness of screening males and females entering a national job training program.  Dr. Blake was the PI on a sub-contract from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, "Microbial Etiologies of Cervicitis and Nongonociccal Urethritis (NGU) in Urban STD Clinic Attendees: Cost-Effectiveness Analysis."  Dr. Blake currently has an R21 from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to develop and test a computerized assent process, "Improving Adolescent Comprehension of an HIV Vaccine Trial Consent Form." 

Dr. Blake will serve as the PI for University of Massachusetts' sub-contract and will work in an integral fashion with Dr. Gaydos on the project.  She will conduct a cost-effectiveness analysis of point-of-care chlamydia tests compared with nucleic acid amplification chlamydia tests in a clinic setting.
