Osler Medical Housestaff Training Program

Housestaff

Dear Colleague:

Thank you for inquiring about training on the Osler Medical House Staff Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The goal of our residency training program is to train leaders in internal medicine. To that end, the department provides three years of comprehensive training in general internal medicine. The program offers a wide variety of experience in acute and ambulatory medicine and many opportunities to develop scholarship in research, teaching and patient care.

Sir William Osler founded our program in 1889 on the principles that medical education should be patient-based and succeeds best when conducted in atmosphere of collegiality. These principles are very much evident today. To cite a few examples, inpatient rounds occur at the bedside, patients are frequently presented in person at Grand Rounds, and the Firm system fosters a friendly and supportive environment that is conducive to forming long-term friendships with faculty and fellow residents. We believe that you will find our program to be exciting, fulfilling and career enhancing.

Thank you for your interest in our program. For specific questions regarding our residency training, e-mail Scott Walker or phone him at (410) 955-7911. For information on the Housestaff Contract and Benefits/Policies, click here.
