The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions include state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient facilities and research laboratories. The Johns Hopkins Hospital has nearly 1,000 beds of which 220 belong to the Medical Service. The Department of Medicine provides general medical and subspecialty patient services on the seventh floor of the recently constructed Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center. Two of the Firms practice ambulatory medicine in JHOPC and two practice in community settings a short distance from the Hospital. Beginning April 2012, some patient care services will be moved to the new $1 billion Sheikh Zayed Clinical Building.
The Welch Medical Library -- one of the largest medical libraries in the country -- is located on the Hospital campus as are many of the Department of Medicine Research Laboratories. Johns Hopkins has four NIH sponsored Clinical Research Centers, three of which are located on the Johns Hopkins Hospital campus.
