Initiatives and Successes
Annual Dinner: The TF sponsors an annual dinner to highlight and celebrate the accomplishments of women in academic medicine and provide an opportunity for women faculty to build relationships with other women in the DOM. Past speakers have included many accomplished women from the DOM and beyond including Dr. Bernadine Healy, Dr. Vivian Pinn, Janet Bickel, Dr. Lisa Cooper, Dr. Redonda Miller and others.
Fellow-Faculty Mentoring Program: The TF pairs interested fellows within the DOM with more senior women faculty from a different division to promote informal mentoring relationships.
Networking events: The TF sponsors several informal events annually to bring women in the DOM together to discuss various topics including mentoring, work-life balance, career advancement and other important issues.
Divisional reviews: The TF, at the invitation of the Department Chair, attends yearly divisional reviews to raise awareness of gender representation and serve as a resource to divisional leaders in their efforts to enhance gender equity.
Data collection: With the support of Department Chair, the TF has conducted several activities to support the advancement of our priorities. These include a survey of leadership roles in the DOM, a detailed review of salary equity in the DOM, and a survey of departmental meeting times.
