Planning Retreat Agenda
A planning retreat with members of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Educational Policy Committee (EPC) is scheduled for Thursday, June 7, 2001. Key objectives for the retreat are as follows:
- Evaluate and recommend revisions to undergraduate medical education (UGME) courses, including addition or deletion of curriculum areas;
- Review allocation of instruction time, instructional infrastructure, and student and course evaluations;
- Identify priorities for future UGME funding;
- Improve communication and collaboration among course directors;
- Achieve better integration of the UGME curriculum;
- Formalize a process for long-term planning and implementation; and
- Achieve EPC and related stakeholder buy-in and support for the planning outcomes and recommendations.
In order to provide a foundation for strategic planning, the following information will be compiled and presented to the retreat participants along with related implications:
- Input and recommendations from course directors and students;
- Findings from interviews with Dean Miller and other SOM leaders regarding the current UGME curriculum and practices and recommended priorities for the future;
- Available student questionnaires and results of Board/licensing exams;
- A description of the current UGME funding situation and an overview of the national funding picture; and
- Survey data.
