Investigators from University of Maryland and the Johns Hopkins University have joined together to create the Baltimore Diabetes Research and Training Center (DRTC). The Center fosters collaborative, multidisciplinary diabetes and endocrinology research, and translates that research into programs to train health care professionals in the diagnosis and management of diabetes.
The Center aims to speed the translation of advances in basic biomedical and genetic research to the clinical arena, where they may be applied to the diagnosis and cost-effective management of diabetes. Finally, the Center seeks to inform others in both professional and lay settings of the accomplishments, opportunities and advancements in diabetes research and training.
